Server Version#: Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS
Player Version#: Plexmediaserver 1.13.9.5439
I just updated my server with a bunch more media and plex is now having an issue with metadata and searching through the agent. I have an idea of what the problem is but not really sure how to remedy it.
basically my root partition on my server is full. I have cleaned all the temp/old install files and got a bit of space back and the agent worked again. after getting through a bunch more media it stopped again and i noticed my drive was full again.
the plex server is a vm in a larger server and my media is connected through a nas. I have allotted more space to the vm and tried resizing the partition but i get a message back “The filesystem is already 2096896 (4k) blocks long. Nothing to do!”
is there a way to point the agent to another folder if i create a new partition? it seems the data the agent pulls if filling my drive and not allowing me to match more media. when the drive is full nothing matches and my “fix match” always shows “no results”.
if your drive filled up, there is a possibility that the db got corrupted.
but even if not, you could create a virtual data drive (separate from the vm OS partition) and install plex there, make sure it has plenty of space 100-200 gigs or more if you have a large library. that way the OS and plex data are separate.
if you don’t have a lot of play history, then its probably simpler to start fresh.
otherwise you could try to move the plex install to the data drive.
as to why your space filled up, if you have chapter and/or video thumbnails enabled (plex web admin > settings > library), those will take up a lot of space in your pms folder.
