New music album for existing artist does not scan

I have a recognized artist–Colleen Green–with two recognized albums of FLAC files downloaded from Bandcamp. I added files from the same artist’s 2021 album–also FLAC, also from Bandcamp–to the same directory, but the new album does not appear in Plex. I’ve initiated library scans. File tags look consistent across recognized and unrecognized files. I don’t see special characters in the new files.

How could I get the album to scan?

Try sorting your library to show Albums by Date Added (I usually do this when adding new albums, just for convenience). If Plex misinterpreted the tags, it might be listed under a different artist name.

If it’s still not there, it would be helpful to see screenshots of:

1. your file manager showing the folder/filenames (preferably showing the full path from the folder that the Library is pointing to)
2. your tag editor showing (at least) Album name, Album Artist, Track Artist, Track titles, disc number, track number

Is Plex configured to prefer local metadata?

On album view (sorted by date added), the album does not appear.

Files are stored on a NAS, with all tracks for an artist in the same artist folder. In this case, it’s “//###.###.###.###/Multimedia/audio/artist/Green, Colleen” (not sure I should treat it as a real name, but it’s consistent for all tracks). Representative shots of file names and tags:

Plex is set to prefer local metadata.

Edit: Just noticed the V2 icons that appear in the screenshots to the left of some files. Those appear for each of the tracks after I select them for the first time in a session.

Well, I don’t see anything glaring there. Could it be a permissions issue?

I double-checked with the account the Android TV uses to mount the share: the files show the same permissions.

Solution: I renamed the files, adding a question mark after the track name (before the dot in the filename).

When I rescanned the music libraries, Plex picked up the new album. I don’t know why.
