This morning I am seeing this banner appear every minute or so, even though there are no new or updated topics. Refreshing the page gets rid of it, but it comes back a minute or two later. I’ve checked muted categories, nothing new there.
Something going on?
What happens when you click on the banner. Does the page update and show the thread? I do see updates quite often.
Clicking on the banner updates the page, but there are no new threads.
I also see the banner sometimes when there are new threads, but then I also see this:
Normally I only see this banner if I’m sitting in a category when a new message is added to that category. Today I’m seeing the banner on the forum home page, when no new messages have been added.
Do you have any categories muted? Wondering if it might new topics in muted categories
I do, but I mentioned in the OP that I looked there.

So I’m finding a little more about this. When the banner appears, there apparently are some new messages, but for some reason they don’t trigger a number next to the forum category (some do, some don’t. It’s weird). If I click on the banner, it just clears the banner. If I click on ‘Latest,’ it shows me the Latest list, and there are indeed new messages there. But they are in forum sections that aren’t muted or hidden, so why are they triggering the banner, rather than a count number next to the section title?
This is all new behavior, as of when I started this thread.
What browser are you using? I have the unread counts next to categories
This is happening in Firefox and Vivaldi (Chromium-based) and Brave (also Chromium-based) on Linux, and MS Edge on Win 10.

That’s the weird thing. Some new messages will trigger the count, and some won’t. For the same category.
Any update on this? I can work around it, but it’s really annoying.
