Todays beta (v8.15.0.23847) re-enables the new HLS stack for Live TV and fixes the issue with switching audio tracks with Live TV. Should be available shortly via Google Play, or downloadable on the beta release notes.
Note that Amazon AppStore still seems to have 8.13.2. Given that 8.14.1 (release, not beta) has been on Google play for some time now, it would appear something is wrong.
The beta can be sideloaded on Fire TV devices. As for the missing updates, Amazon have rejected the release, we are pushing 8.15 through instead this week.
i am glad that i am not the only one that hates the new player, if i had known this would be forced on us i would have never gotten the lifetime plex pass. the old player navigation was 1000 times better. especially when sorting through a library of small video clips and god forbid i want to delete something. now instead of just clicking delete, i have to go to movie then 3 dot then delete.
not to mention, i updated to the latest server version on my 2 servers and also the latest client on my shield tv a day or so ago and now i have to set video quality to 8 mb/s cause anything higher is a slide show and i am on 1 gb lan. this just started with the update

have a tcl series 4 with android tv built-in. lot’s of issues with playback for live/dvr tv (ts streams).
finally stumbled onto disabling the new player to be a cure, understood that the chipset in the tv is a bit wonk in conjunction with new player. made the unfortunate mistake of updating the app, and there’s no setting to disable new player anymore? what’s the last version for ATV that had the setting?
sure would appreciate having it back, don’t see much support coming from the tcl side of things.
I believe 8.11 (exoplayer was updated again in 8.12), but I know the old player stopped working after 8.6 for me. If you want the current player to work correctly in the future, you’ll have to raise an issue with logs so Plex can investigate.
yep, before i go sideload an old version i’ll try to grab some logs. will try to pay-it-forward on time saved hunting down the build but in the meantime would like to have a working system. thanks.
