Greetings, I’s been a while since I posted here (2021).
this will sound as a rant , but once again where ? are the ADULTS at these companies ?
I know we boomers are a dying breed, but why push this CRAP on us? without a OPT OUT feature?
I NEVER , NEVER N will watch what Plex , Roku , Tivo , want to push us to watch so they can make money from the ADS.
This is why we have a Synology and Roku to watch ad free content…
So it took me awhile to find under experience to disable “recommended” to BROWSE. but the Roku player defaults to this USELESS screen , and now I have to right to LIBRARIES , then down to what library click on that to see my TV shows or to Movies to see MY F0CKING content. Can’t you let us users to skip these new “ bad expirience “ OFF , I promise even though I have online stuff OFF , you still are making me work harder just to RELAX and watch MY F0cking content !!!
I realize the X Y Z generation are now running the world . but my god how long will it take before they get a clue?
Old timers like me CUT cable , because of this same issue, now you get 5 minutes of ADS and 4 minutes of the show etec …
I would like to thank users in here like JuiceWAS for their help and reminders that Plex knows we have few options where to go and leave this madness. I want my settings to OVERRIDE the crap these script kiddies are putting into Plex server just to make phone users move to Plex, but to quote SPOCK it’s illogical to watch a 7” phone screen when I have 65” TV screens all over the house ? I never watch content from a phone, and yes I actually leave my phone in the living room so I can MISS phone calls and texts .
I hear you.. 65” and the phone goes off when I watch.. my time is precious
was happy to see the “disable skip credits” and “disable up next” were implemented. when I watch a movie, I don’t want to be disturbed and I want to watch credits roll, music play, pluck popcorn out of my beard, that kind of stuff
but yeah.. hey plex.. can we have a “minimal” (Expert?) mode please? EVERYTHING disabled by default? Do we have to pay for that? I just want to opt out of all the innovations that you provide.. like, plexamp is the only recent one I use. in the car, which is awesome <3
like in Zelda.. turn off everything except the hearts. Because why not? cord cutting.. yea, I remember that but the spice must flow, I guess. the brainworms are spreading.
Moving to Jellyfin expecting a better client experience is like moving from a small mid-western town to New York expecting a decreased crime rate. I’ve been using Jellyfin as a backup for years, so I’m not talking out of my butt.
You folks need to try Jellyfin and experience the client situation before extolling its virtues.
guys just got home from work 5:45am , sitting in front room ALONE got a cold beer time to binge. click on Roku Plex app , it defaults to this screen error” there is content blah blah “
it’s been this way since they updated it. I
have to navigate up to HOME then right over to Libraries .
My question is there a setting to have it go to the library menu ? It’s the only thing that amkes sense to me and my wife .
I’ve been using Jellyfin since the update concurrently with Emby. You’re absolutely right, I don’t like them better. In fact, I don’t really like Jellyfin at all.
That being said, I absolutely hate the new Roku experience. So even though I don’t like Emby as much as I used to like Plex, I still switched. There’s a learning curve to figure out how to do things differently from Plex but at least I’m not disgusted every time I open the client.
No, you’re stuck going to the top and scrolling through the libraries and only being able to read one at a time. Why? Because Plex hates you. You’re an infant and obviously they know better than you so you’ll do things the way they want you to. And you better be happy about it or they’ll spank your little behind.
It’s Roku’s update server. There’s no way to roll it back once it’s been updated and even preventing the update is a huge chore involving blocking the update server from your network. If Plex had notified its users regarding this horrific “upgrade” I would have spent the time blocking Roku’s update service. Instead I was forced to use that time to switch to Emby.
