Is this version of Roku Plex staying?

Is this top menu really staying on the Roku app? I assumed after putting up with it for months that it would be reverted since it is a terrible layout. Surely there should be a setting to switch back to left menus. I work with people who are dumping Roku in favour of firesticks and some are just dumping Plex all together for Jellyfin.

All signs point to Yes. :expressionless:

And for those dumping the Rokus and switching to Firesticks, eventually the same layout is coming to those as well…

Yep. Encourage them all to cancel plex passes, switch to Jellyfin and not invest in more hardware because plex isn’t backing down from the enshitification due to “changing demographics.”

I’ve personally been off Plex for about a month now, rolling with Jellyfin. Navigation there isn’t the best, either… but if I’m going to deal with something not preferable, it may as well be without any of the other bloat.

Just curious, what client(s) are you using? I would probably use Infuse (since I’m currently using it for Plex).

Just not sure about my remote users - I’ve got a few on Roku’s, Android TV, even PS I think…not sure how good the clients are for those environments (although I’m not sure they can be much worse than Plex “new experience” lol)

My thoughts exactly.

Thus far, I’ve only used the Jellyfin Roku client. It’s super clean and spartan. The experience is definitely “No Frills.” The only other client I’d end up using in the house is the Xbox client, which I’ve not tried yet. I should look into Infuse.

My remote users are still on Plex and mostly use Rokus at my recommendation for their ease of use. I’ve stalled setting up remote access for Jellyfin. I’ve got it worked out… it’s just a matter of pressing the buttons and testing with a few users.

Now that my holiday Stag Beer binge is over, I can probably put some focus back on it.

The New Experience will eventually be on all Plex Clients.

The Jellyfin UI is unpolished.
Many use it as it’s free (which is why Emby usually not named as an alternative) .

I use Plex 99.999% of the time to watch media.
I got used to the Top Menu the other 0.001%
