I have a New Plex Feature Suggestion. Sync play for several members of your Plex server, setup a movie to be watched by several members, my kids are away in college and we some times watch movies or TV shows together and we set Plex to play at the same time. It would be ideal if Plex had a such a features, so you can do movie night sort of thing with friends and family. Perhaps as a added feature you can set up group pause, so if a member of the group watching the movie needs to get up and pause the movie it will pause it for everyone in the group and say XX member has paused the movie. At that point the the group could resume play if they like or wait. Just my 2 cents.

Perfect that was close enough to what I was looking for, it seem to have been requested a long time ago and it had over 1,154 points/votes, wonder if it will make it to any future release this year.
I, for one, think this is a VERY bad idea. To be even marginally usable there would have to be some serious programming time involved. One reason for the time is the difficulty of keeping the multiple playbacks synced even close. Another is resyncing after a pause or other trick play. Still a third is multiple clients, remote from each other, would need to communicate and that would have to take place through the server. That would be more complicated that simply controlling one client with another.
All that time/resources spent takes away from the much needed programming to finish existing features/functions and the return would only benefit a very small subset of Plex users.
This kind of “fluff” feature needs to wait at least until Plex fixes/finishes what is currently in the pot.
Well some of us like fluff! Since we use it with family and friends. Also who is to say its a minor subset it has over 1150 votes, making it the 5th most requested item on the list. So i am sorry to disagree with you.

@Playtronics , for what it’s worth, you may want to check out Plex Labs’ community section. Specifically the mention of SyncLounge. Seems to be just what you’re looking for. While it’s not an “official” piece of software, it does come with a recommendation from them

Plex is already capable of doing this.
I do it all the time and watch movies in sync from Los Angeles with my buddy in Orlando.
I have described in several posts as to how.
There is no coding required in PMS to enjoy synchronized watching with SEVERAL friends concurrently…
