New PLEX Home page layout

Hello PLEX designers.

I have been a very happy Plex Pass subscriber for several years. Each new ‘refresh’ look would usually bring some improvements and sometimes some downfalls.

My large library of TV and Movies are stored on my server in individual Genres.
I prefer to do this rather than All Movies in one file and then have to rely on Search functions to find the applicable Genre.

Current my PLEX ‘Home’ shows any (eg) "New Additions in Movies on the same line in the order of whatever movie I added last. So recently added Action, or Comedy, or Sci Fi Movies use to all show on one line, in order that they were last placed into PLEX.

Now with the new PLEX home page, it treats every Movie “New Addition” as its own separate tab… So now I have numerous lines for each category. And different sub lines for each of those.

Recently Released - Movies - Action
Recently Released - Movies - Classic
Recently Released - Movies - Comedy
Recently Released - Movies - Drama
(etc, etc etc).

Recently Added - Movies - Action
Recently Added - Movies - Classic
Recently Added - Movies - Comedy
Recently Added - Movies - Drama
(etc, etc etc).

Top Movies - Action
Top Movies - Classic
Top Movies - Comedy
Top Movies - Drama
(etc, etc, etc)

Don’t worry, I won’t go on… I’m sure you get the gist.

So, my question is for the developers, to ask if it is possible for be able to group different media, Movies, TV shows, Video and Music into the same “Type” of Media. That is of course, if the user chooses to do so in the ‘Settings’.

I’m sure that there will be people who will suggest that I load all my movies on to one file and all my TV shows onto another. But to do that, would entail hours and hours of reloading all the Metadata. Plus I have numerous personal edits to many shows and Movies that would be lost in the transfer.

Yes - it has evolved into a FlusterCluck.

Eventually, when it becomes apparent Plex has won, you will endure ‘The Melding’. Plex is designed around the concept of One Library Each and the more they fiddle with the plumbing the easier it becomes to stop up the drain.

You might be able to manage some of the hubs (such as Top Movies-Comedy, etc) by enabling or disabling where they appear. Support Article here:

The multiple rows of Recently Added can’t be combined into one hub yet, but it’s supposed to be returning as an option. I think for a lot of people, it can’t happen too soon.

EDIT: I don’t think all of the apps respect those settings yet, so your mileage may vary, depending on your go to client.
