New Plex Logo

Looks like we’re getting a shiny new logo to go with our shiny new direction…

PlexLogo

It looks bloated.

With the disconnected X, it looks like “ple” with a design after it to me.

From the Plex Blog…

more flexible and adaptable logo, and we hope you dig it as much as we do. We want to convey the unique sensibility of Plex while also leaning into a warmer and more inviting spirit

Plex felt warmer and more inviting when it did a better job listening to its users instead of attempting to force marketing onto them. It was more flexible and adaptable too. Today we have to post porn (delivered to us by Plex) on their forums to get the “flexibility” of an off switch. Now, they have to see if it fits their business contracts to see if they can be flexible.

Also, hard to be inviting when users can’t restrict content to protect their kids.

Gotta love marketing. The happy face on the money grabbing actions of C-Line.

Looks like commentary contradicting it’s awesomeness on the blog is being censored as well.

Saw something deleted?

My comment was removed. Unless calling it “juvenile” is against post policies?

And yet they left the “Just this morning I was celebrating feeling more curvy too after losing a little weight, so I get the want to excitedly share!” comment?

Wow.

I like it. I did like the old logo, but this new one looks good too. It looks “friendly” :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, everyone is going to see it differently. I thought the old one was fine and didn’t seem to be hurting the company’s growth.

Oh well, having done graphic design myself, I get how these things happen especially when you hire on a bunch of new high level personnel.

Looks like the blog’s comments are becoming the Plex staff patting themselves on the back.

This logo hurts my feelings.

It’s ugly, worse than the old one, but when have you ever seen a corporate logo actually improve?

But this way it looks a hell of a lot more like the tubi and plutotv logos (and many other shady free streaming outfits), which was probably the whole point. Might get some clicks from people mistaking it for whatever they’re actually looking for in mobile app stores.

Probably took some brand agency intern about 10 minutes to see “free streaming” in the brief, look at other logos in that space, look at the existing Plex brand and then come up with this. I hope Plex didn’t blow a lot of their investor cash on it, but uhhh, let’s face it, they probably did.

The straight lines on the “Old” logo must have been too sharp and doesn’t fit the “flexible and adaptable” feel and “unique sensibility of Plex while also leaning into a warmer and more inviting spirit” of pushing users towards other services to get a little bite of the streaming pie I guess. :face_vomiting:

Where are we seeing this new logo?

Uh, literally on the Plex forum header. The forum logo was where I first noticed it. It wasn’t until I found another thread that had the info about the blog entry explaining the announcement.

After a few several looks, it definitely is on brand with PlutoTV and Tubi. Soft, cushy, clay, fun… but that’s not what I imagine Plex even being. I rather have a robust, solid, and flexible ecosystem that’s useful and is a media Swiss army knife than have its logo be assaulted into a mushy pile of poo.
