I love the new launch animation in the apps. This new logo is really growing on me, I like it.
So typical that the development team would focus their efforts on a new logo rather than dealing with all the issues users have been, in some cases, waiting years for them to address.

This pisses me off big time. I’m not a big fan of the logo, but for me it is a very minor thing. This has absolutely nothing to do with development this is a graphical change. I’m a developer myself and would be so annoyed at this statement. We never see the dev’s here - which is normal.

In the worlds I work in, a logo change wouldn’t be a simple one to two hour affair. It would involve upfront meetings calling in lots of people from different departments to discuss the need for change. Then there would be focus groups to figure out what we wanted to say. Designers/Developers would run off and do several iterations of a logo, which would then be discussed in more meetings until finally a decision was made. Designers/Developers would have been invited along for a lot of that to make sure the vision translates. A change like this could take 6 months.
I’m pretty sure what looks like a few hours worth of work may have actually bordered on hundreds of collective hours if you include planning, discussion, and debate. Personally, I’m annoyed that time wasn’t better spent.
I’m a Designer/Developer too. If that happened here… that’s what I would have gone through.

Not to mention the Legal department, to ensure against brand infringements, etc.
If users had been much involved, I think this effort would have ended in the “discuss the need for change” stage.
I said early on that the new logo was just unpleasant to look at. It hasn’t grown on me.

There is also at least one place on the android tv app via the nvidia shield where the old logo still exist giving a mix of old and new. Coming from a QA background it makes me laugh each time they roll out another update and its still there. I’m now waiting to see how long plex will take to find it

Just got the Roku App with the new logo.
Needs animation like the old logo.
And sound, like Netflix and hulu.
This new logo is absolutely terrible. There was no need at all to change what we had to this monstrosity! It was just fine before! The best way to compare this change is that it went from looking like an adult to looking like a child! The logo should be changed back immediately! The people involved who decided to change the logo as well as the people that picked out this design should be fired for visually offending our eyes. With all the problems Plex has THIS is what the people at the top are spending hours on ‘fixing’? Pathetic, just pathetic Plex!
No it does not need animation that takes longer to load and annoying sound like Netflix and Hulu because those things are complete annoyances! Anyone advocating for these features is insane! The last thing I want to hear when I load an app is the same annoying sound over and over again or watch a stupid unnecessary animation.

I can only assume they’ve introduced this terrible logo so they can (hopefully) announce a triumphant return to the old logo because they listen to users!
Except they don’t listen.
