New Plex Media Server movie scanner and agent preview

I was more curious about sidecar subtitles you have saved inside the movie folders as you show in your example:

Example:
My Plex
/Drama
/ American Made (2017)
/ American Made (2017).mkv
English-forced.srt

^ Just note that we won’t be able to parse the language from that srt, it should get picked up if it’s the only external sub in the folder but if you want the language to show correctly in the subtitle picker then it should be named American Made (2017).en.forced.srt as per https://support.plex.tv/articles/200471133-adding-local-subtitles-to-your-media/

Merci encore!

Hello, i have configured the library to use French and enable localized title. Title are well localized but the description of the movie remain in English :confused:

Thank you for the feedback! We are still working on this and these will be fully localized at launch.

Good to know the titles are at least working well for you.

I have one library each (except the new test movie)

The two movie libraries point to the same media folders

The folder structure for a movie is;
One movie per sub-folder

the test scan missed 16 movies, I’ll see what I can find out on this.

What I have found out is that the new scanner is 1.75% faster..
On my system it scanned 2800 movies an hour finished in just over 8 hours.
The old scan took over 14 Hours if it finished at all.. (many times it would get to some point an just stall)

When I get a chance I’ll go through the libraries and see what I can find before making any changes.

If you have any requests let me know..

EDIT:

Found;

Could be the 16 missing movies..

EDIT;

That is what it was, split them apart and now the counts match.

First thing that I have noticed is a lot of the movies don’t show the poster but a frame of the film… Even though every one of them that I checked has at least one poster available under edit. That’s also a problem because most of the ones i checked had 3 4 5 of the same poster showing, That’s a lot of poster storage…

Because of the number of movies, I’m guessing I would have to edit one in 10, that’s a lot of fixing… I know under normal conditions it would just be the one’s that have been added. Also all my posters are local with the movie, including an NFO file created with TMM… So I would have thought that it would have just used that one.

That is interesting and not something we’ve seen internally yet. Do most of your movies have local posters in the folder with them, like in your example? If so we will use those ones by default.

If it doesn’t it may that something failed trying to download the remove poster - would you be able to share your logs with me and the titles of some of the movies which are missing posters?

Also, does hitting “Refresh Metadata” on a movie which is missing a poster fix it?

I actually haven’t tried that… I was just doing some searching and haven’t tried to modify anything at this point.

The above folder example, 3 Days with Dad (2019)

the poster that I have with the movie is

i’m using tmdb as agent and rename most of folder in French but leave the file name in English (orginal name with issue on radarr) for a best matching.
Using the new agent, i can’t match this movie : Parasite (2019)/기생충 (2019) [Bluray-1080p] [8bit] [x264] [DTS-5.1] [FR+KO].mkv

I have try to search manually, switch to english instead of french but no result :frowning:

Ah interesting. That is definitely a local poster - can you check how those local images are named in that movie’s folder?

Thanks, we’re working on improving the Fix Match when used with custom search parameters - at the moment it seems to ignore the search parameters. I’ll update you when that is ready to test.

As for the file not matching to begin with, we’ll look into that.

Will this work with the existing CLI scanner to scan individual folders into the library?

The new plex music scanner does not, which gives me fears this one won’t either.

It should work fine although it hasn’t been thoroughly tested.

see the example in my post above

Ah okay, thanks! I’ll try to reproduce that scenario.

I did see a question about using this on the nvidea sheild. Is it possible to add it to the server when it is running on the shield?

@zmerkling90 Sorry, not at the moment.

Thanks for the response. Do you have any idea why the media server running on the shield would all the sudden not be finding metadata for either TV shows or movies? I have tried match for new items and it says no results.

I have also restarted the server. Optimized the database and cleaned bundles. All with no luck.

Please start a new thread.

Little off-topic.

Please improve music metadata IDtags. The biggest problems are in classical music where “the Composer” is set by Plex as the “Album Artist”. Chopin didn’t record any CDs.
