I don’t seem to get any local extras when placed into the season folder(s).
These extras are supposed to be specific for the season.
I tried a Featurettes as well as a Deleted subfolder.

The episode summaries in the Specials season seem to fall back to any language which has a summary.

I’d prefer they’d only fall back to english.
My library is set to German.
In this case I get a Spanish summary, because this and Portuguese are the only ones available

(The buttons above are misleading. There is no summary text in there, only episode titles.)

Which client are you checking on? Season extras currently only work in Android and iOS (mobile).

I would probably recommend for now to place season extras at the show level if you want most clients to be able to see them.

I can certainly see pro’s and con’s for either strategy.
Without a way to define “acceptable” fallback languages (acceptable to me), this will always be a area of debate.

I only really think there are two fallbacks languages we should use:

  1. English (sorry rest of world), or
  2. The original language of the show.

This keeps things simpler.

I consider the original lanuage only of any use if it happens to be one which I understand.
With Anime, this would be Japanese, which I unfortunately not only cannot understand, but cannot even read. :smiley:

Two questions for the episode extras:

  1. are you considering to loosen the requirement for the extras to match the exact episode file name (e.g. going for a combination of the extra-suffix and the sXXeYY pattern instead)?
  2. are you considering to support folders for episode extras? This is useful if you have named extras (e.g. for deleted scenes or featurettes)

As it’s still considered experimental there is definitely room for improvement but I have to balance where I spend my time and I got a lot of stuff “for free” here for TV as it uses a lot of the same code written for the Plex Movie agent extras.

For now the strict naming for episode extras will remain, I don’t know if that’s something that will change.

Episode extras was something that is a bit different as you have all season or show episodes in a single folder, unlike with Movies where many people separate them into their own folders. So having separate folders for extras is also not really practical right now. I may revisit this at some point but I cannot really spend more time on this right now.

I added the ability to add a number to extras of the same type so you can have multiple for the same episode and the title will just be inherited from the episode title.

A feedback about language selection. On the previous build, the new tv agent was set by default when selecting the language but not the case this time.

I have first selected French as language but it was the “TVDB” agent select in advanced features and I need to switch to new agent. I didn’t checked but the language has been reset to English instead of my previous choice from the General tab.

I don’t know if it’s the mix to start to create the TV library using the cloud web app and switch to the bundle app to have the agent settings which change this behavior, but as I’m remember, wasn’t the case on previous build.

Noticed that too…

  • TVDB as default agent → apparently some preparation for the actual beta (where users obviously shouldn’t be forced to use the new agent).
  • Library language defaulting to English → it seems this happens if you edit the advanced settings of the new library during setup; if I skip the advanced settings, my library language setting prevails.

I’ve seen some hiccups with episode extras where files contain special characters. I’ll double-check if the file names actually match… if I remember correctly I used to have some issues in the past with combined Unicode characters (e.g. ū being stored as u+⁻)
Example:

Naruto Shippūden (2007) - S01E01.mkv

I guess this new TV Extras feature gives me an excuse to scrounge through my anime library and label all those creditless openings and endings! :grimacing:

I’ve been copying the base name from the actual episode file but the hiccups persisted. So it appears the files names match (no mix-up of single/combined characters)

Feedback on Forum Preview version 1.21.3.3983-a090db7d3:

  • I used the upgrade test this time around. I did not see an upgrade library option so I just changed the scanner to Plex TV Series (BETA) and forced a refresh of all data.
  • With the new agent the upgrade/refresh of TV library with 378 shows and 22K episodes took approx 30 minutes to complete. I’m still blown away at the speed of this!
  • From what I can tell all shows updated and had its metadata refreshed. Nothing is mismatched at the show level which again I’d expect as its an upgrade/refresh but still wanted to mention it.
  • On deck has been removed from the home page. This would be a major problem and the most serious issue I found.
  • I set the rating source to TVDB. The icon for tvdb is nice, first time I have seen this. I notice its not on the season screen which is probably correct but said I’d mention it.
  • On ratings I noticed some TV ratings are using different sources. One example is the show 3%, at the show level its correctly using TVDB and S01E01 but when I check say S02E01 it using TMDB. Probably some fall back but worth looking into. The show The A Word has this as well. Also some shows just use TMDB instead, Narcos: Mexico as an example but there are loads. So its a mixed bag.
  • Minor layout issue but if you change the view within the library from grid to list view and add critic rating you will see TVDB icon is truncated and looks like VDB instead.
  • Cast list do need some investigation or at least explanations of how they are built. Only one example, Randy James is coming up on the cast regular list for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, think he was in one episode but is on the full cast list for the entire show. Also, many season regulars are missing, Marc Alaimo as just 1 example but there are many more. This can be said for many shows and lots of examples could be given. Black Mirror is another very odd one as to how the cast list is built.
  • On Doctor Who S00E157, the episode thumbnail is correct for the Revolution of the Daleks but the other metadata is for Farewell, Sarah Jane. This type of stuff is going to be messy to track down and find problems with mismatches on the episode level itself within a correctly matched show.

I kept my logs so if you want them let me know.
