New Plex Movie agent do not respect embedded `Sort Name / Title` tags

Server Version#: 1.24.4.5081
Player Version#: 1.35.1.2632-c6783c78

I embed complete tags for all my files to be 100% compatible with iTunes and Plex. With the legacy Plex Movie agent, the Sort Name / Title tag was respected, allowing me to regroup movies even if like sequels had other names. With the new agent, the order of my movie library is totally broken. The agent no longer respect the Sort Name / Title tag and seems to only consider the Name / Title one.

For example, “2 Fast 2 Furious” is now at the beginning of the library, instead of being next to “Fast and Furious”.

As for your issue at hand

Have you configured Plex to prefer embedded metadata? Keep in mind this will only work with certain containers (namely .mp4, .m4v, .mov) – though given you’re working w/ iTunes I take it your files are in a compatible format.
See > Manage Library > Edit...Advanced > Prefer embedded metadata

As for grouping items in general

You might want to take a look at collections. Those will give you a much smoother experience without the dependency to manually organize the sort titles of your movies

Yes, all my libraries are setup to prefer embedded metadata (and I use only .m4v files). Other embedded tags are used properly, just the Sort Name / Title that isn’t with the new agent.

For collections, I’ll take a look at some point, thanks. Regardless, the new agent should probably be fixed.

Thanks for reporting; it appears this had been omitted in the agent. I’ve reported this to the dev team (no ETA for a potential fix)
