Hello, so with the new music scanner it pulls the album reviews from the description field, this works with m4a/m4b, but not with mp3s as id3 does not have a description field.
How can I get this to work with mp3s?

I’ve always used mp3tag to edit my m4a/m4b tags, but I don’t see a description tag as one of the choices there, possibly because of mp3’s in general not having that tag as you mentioned. What do you use to edit the tags on your m4a/m4b files to get it to show up like you did in your screenshot? I also have a mixed audiobook library of mp3 and m4a/m4b files so I’m very curious about this as well.
edit: I’d love something that shows what tags go with what fields - my google searching has found some examples for mp4 or movie files, but not mp3/music.
Yeah i found that mp3tag didnt have the description field, so i did it with kid3. But still no luck with mp3s, i’ve tried subtitle, comment, podcast description, but nothing shows up. I tried adding APE description to mp3s, but it doesnt show up in plex.
Thanks for pointing me to kid3 - tested with an m4b file and that worked. I’m still hoping someone with knowledge of which mp3 tags correlate to what fields in Plex might be able to chime in and help.
mp3 can be converted to m4a or m4b, but that wouldn’t be ideal. A lossy conversion of an already lossy file probably wouldn’t hurt things for audiobooks since they aren’t music, but it could be an issue.
Reading of the description tag currently has been only implemented for mp4 containers.
Thanks Otto, that’s good to know at least, I’ll look into converting my mp3s to m4a files and see if that will be a workaround for now.
What happens if the multiple MP4/M4A songs have different description tags, which one will appear under the album?

Why is it that development of these simple core issues is so slow it seems static?
Album reviews have never worked and now that this offers a small glimmer of hope, it is not being fully tested for mp3?
