New Plex scanner uses clearart images as backdrops

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402

Most of my movies have a bunch of different images for different uses. Clearart images are not to be used as backdrops. they look weird since plex don’t deal well with transparent backdrops apparently. it just looks weird…

I’ll find a away to temporary work around this issue for now. but this should get fixed eventually…

movies that have both backdrops and clearart seems to get one of them by random. I suspect that plex just picks one determined by some arbitrary metric, perhaps hash, size or whatever.

I don’t know what you mean by clearart images. Can you give some examples of movies using these?

I got the same problem with those Clear-art images.

It’s a image containing only the subject of the image and logo. With a white or transparant background.

For example a “background/fanart “ image of ” “The fast and the Furious” with a car on a busy highway. Will only have the car and logo on a “clear-art” image

Thanks, I know what’s happening here. I’ll get this fixed in a future release.

Great, thanks!

It also happens btw when you got Movieset-xxxx images in your movie folder. Then the “movie poster” will be from the collection not from the movie it self.

For example, when you got “The fast and the Furious” in your library. And you got the following images in that folder

The fast and the furious.mkv

  • poster.jpg
  • fanart.jpg
  • movieset-poster.jpg
  • movieset-fanart.jpg

It wil use the movieset images for both the poster and fanart/background for the movie artwork

Any updates on this issue? This is one of the main issues keeping me from using the new movie agent on my main movie library.

Thanks for the support.

Fix will be in the next update, it didn’t make the 1.20.4 cut.
