New Plex update

Dear Plex Team,

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the latest redesign of the Plex TV app.

I have used Plex because it provides a convenient way to enjoy my own media library on my television. Unfortunately, the latest update has completely changed the experience, and in my opinion, it has made the app significantly worse rather than better.

The new interface feels less intuitive, less convenient and unnecessarily complicated. Instead of making it easier to access and enjoy my own movies and TV shows, the redesign has made an experience that previously worked well much more frustrating.

I appreciate that software needs to evolve, but an update should improve the user experience, not force long-standing users to adapt to a completely different interface that they consider inferior.

My main concerns are:

  • The new interface is considerably less user-friendly.
  • Accessing personal media and navigating the app feels unnecessarily complicated.
  • The redesign appears to prioritise a new look and additional content over the simplicity that made Plex appealing in the first place.
  • Users should have the choice to retain the previous interface, rather than being forced to accept a redesign they strongly dislike.
  • Playback issues when it comes to transcoding a video, it’s very buggy

I would like Plex to take this feedback seriously, review the negative reaction to the new TV interface, and consider providing an option to restore the previous design.

Please do not assume that a new interface is automatically an improvement simply because it is new. Many users value reliability, simplicity and easy access to their own media above unnecessary visual changes.

I would appreciate a meaningful response explaining whether Plex intends to address these concerns and whether users will have any option to return to the previous interface.

Although I have a Plex Pass, I will have to abandon using Plex altogether and because it’s simply unusable, and I will start using alternatives like emby or jellyfin .

I hope Plex will listen to its long-standing users before further changes undermine the experience that made the platform so popular.

I agree with this persons comment. The loss of video summary on swipe down was especially disappointing and the nested functionality is disappointing.

My shield and server have been working perfectly a year or two now with no issues. After this update my Plex client straight up doesn’t play anything at all. This is ridiculous.
