New Plex user, I have been using Plex now since Feb 2019, ripped nearly 200 movies, learned subtitles. Made this all work on a 7 year old 4tb Seagate NAS.
About to switch to a QNAP 453be. I have one lingering issue, AUDIO!
The audio on my smart TVs is very low. The audio on my entertainment system with a dedicated sound system (Yamaha, what I call a low end, high end system) works great. The volume issue is with just TV audio or mobile device audio, it is always very low.
I originally coded it all in AAC but some recent testing showed me AC3 provides a better amount of volume on the devices.
Here is me query, is it better to re-encode it all to AC3 to allow a better compatibility for those devices that do not have a dedicated sound system? I see little purpose in AAC if most devices still have an issue using it. AC3 appears to be used more effectively, especially when downscaling from 5.1 to stereo, giving a higher quality sound and better voice volume on those devices that need to be downscaled.
Or does anyone know a better way to address this audio issue such that the AAC format works well on standard devices?
