hi all,
im new here and to the world of NAS, so please forgive what may be a noob few questions.
first is what I want. to be able to have a place to store all my films and TV series, 2nd, have them connected to tv to watch whenever I want, 3rd have so I can upload new movies to them via PC, and 4th, to be able to watch them on the move.
after spending about 4 days searching google and watching dozens of videos and reading many many pages it seemed that a NAS was best and that a QNAP fits the bill, had it down to 251+ and 251B, so went with the 251b for the PCIe bay so can get 10GGBe later.
got the NAS and got a 4TB red, installed, and uploaded the data, had issues with audio from try to watch on tv via HD station so turned to plex as everyone says its better, set it up on NAS and phone, however im still getting audio issues.
seems everything with AAC works fine, on both HD Station and Plex, but AC3 does either of 2 things, one plays movie but with no audio, or plays movie sped up. like 4x or 8x the normal speed, plus with no sound.
been trying now for 2 days with google searches and am starting to give up a little with all this.
Ive seen that Qnap have not got a license for AC3 and so will not work, that’s fine, if I have another way to play them, which is what plex was for, I have not found another about plex not being about to play them and so a bit lost.
again, I think this question has been asked many times, but cant find my exact one, and so really need someone in the know to give me some help.
cheers
jay
