The new app worked initially but now will not display on the monitors. It shows running on the task bar but if you click on it nothing displays. It’s almost like it displaying on a monitor which doesn’t exist. Older version display fine.

It’s probably minimized on an unknown monitor - or went haywire when the one it was on was powered down.
Look in the Taskbar for it’s icon.
Highlight the icon, then leave the mouse there hovering over it…
Hold down the Windows Key.
Press the Right or Left Arrow button (perhaps more than once) and the thing should come back into view.

Not particularly important for this discussion, but:
Plex for Windows/Mac
and
Plex Media Player
are
Two Different things, but either one of them will disappear if you’re not careful.
I’m always rounding up one or the other with the Windows/Arrow trick - so don’t feel bad.
If you’re on Windows, select the app on the task bar.
Then hold down Shift+Win keys and tap on the right or left arrow (slow, repeatedly)
Windows+arrow and shift+windows+arrow doesn’t do anything. The visual preview of the app window when the mouse is hovering over the task bar icon is blank.
Then you probably need to “hard reset” it, by emptying out it’s configuration folder. Tiny Window at Launch
