New PMS with same hostname as old one - no migration

I had a functional PMS on an old server in my cabinet. Worked just fine. I decided to scale back and deployed Plex on a new SFF system. I decided to “start from scratch” because the original deployment was a bit of a learning experience.

I used the same hostname for the new machine. Everything installed and started cleanly.

Browsing to http://plex.int.jduncan.io:32400/web works fine. I’m able to log in. But I can’t see any server settings. There was no setup wizard.

What I’ve attempted:

  • removing the Application\ Support directory and restarting the service
  • removing the RPM and re-installing

I’m wrapped around the axel of how to point this new server at my existing account. All help appreciated.

OS: CentOS 7

Figured this out. My wifi and home lab networks are on different subnets. I used the SSH-forwarding approach initially but had forgotten.

All working again now.
