I’ve had a PMS (and lifetime Plex pass) for a long time now and have just decided to build a new (faster) PMS. Do I need to delete my old one before I create the new one? Do I need to create a new account?? When I fire up my new one it asks me to log in, but when I do it just takes me to the webpage for my old(current) PMS. Then if I try to do anything with my new PMS I get an error that I’m not authorized to access it. IDK what the hell is going on! Thank for any help
No need to create a separate account or to delete any old servers.
Just make sure you’re connecting to the new install using the new machine’s local IP address from within the same subnet (or localhost / 127.0.0.1 if you’re on the same machine).
http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web
This should bring up a dialog to finish the setup of your new server. Once the server is also accessible from the hosted web app or other clients.
Ok… thanks! I will give that a try.
Follow this: New Claiming Requirement for Windows
So I go the Plex icon in the sys tray and right click “open”. It goes through “initializing Plex Media Server”.
Edit: Ok…I followed a post to make some registry changes and it seems to have worked. But why am I seeing the libraries of my current/old PMS when I’m on the new IP web host?
In general, it doesn’t matter from where you are loading the web app. (except when claiming a server)
You are not “opening your new server”.
You are opening the web app.
Which is signed into your plex.tv account.
Which has, as of now, 2 servers in it.
Your Plex apps have been using your old server until now.
So if you want use your new server instead (or a combination of old and new)
you have to edit the side bar and unpin old and pin new media sources.
