New router, now I cannot connect to Plex Media Server locally

I might try that @nx6  Curious to see it work now  Remote access is not a priority, just a nice to have. Even the NAS was a nice to have. Might just run everything off my laptop again. Sorry to admit defeat, but I think I am up against hidden forces. Cheers :+1:

So now having set up a media server on my laptop, and tested streaming to an iPad on my wifi, I get the message that the iPad is not directly connected to the media server and the stream is now relaying via Plex :sob: I guess I should have predicted that  . So the private router idea is looking more and more promising. Or I go through every setting on my router to find out why it is isolating my devices… could that setting be hardwired such that I couldn’t change it even if I wanted to? Or I change my ISP. Or I just give up and stick to Netflix like an obedient citizen :frowning:

Combing through your existing router’s settings doesn’t cost you anything. Neither does calling your ISP’s support about the issue since it started with their new router you didn’t ask for. If you decide to supply your own router you might find out if you’re required to use your ISP’s router to start with or can just return it to them and connect yours direct. Obviously if you can’t you’ll want to disable the wi-fi radios on their router when you have yours set up.

Once you have local streaming working fine then you can move to the remote streaming issue if you wish.
