New Sky Q box announced that support Apps

Hi everyone

I was wondering with the announcement yesterday of the new Sky Q box which support Apps, could we get a Plex client on that system.

Kind regards

Steve

Hi

I have asked the same question in “other” and hoping for a positive answer, but knowing the Murdoch way of doing business they probably slap a major licence for it.

The fact that Sky charges members for a monthly subscription and then slaps numerous ads during their shows (Sky One, Sky Atlantic etc) is seriously not good. I can understand showing ads between shows, but at times it feels like I am paying to be advertised to. For those channels like ITV 2, Gold, Dave and so on these channels are available free on Freeview so advertising is their lifeline, but Sky gets money from us as a direct fee. Anyway I degress…

Plex on Sky Q please !

Are you talking about this one?

That box seems to be labeled “Now” but is not “Now” the Sky TV Roku?

I could be wrong as I do not live on the east side of the big pond and do follow tech events over there much.

Edit: I think it would be completely up to Sky as to if Plex is available or not. Except for side-loading a Roku channel is not currently available for the Sky-Now boxes and this box sounds like it could be able to be even more locked down. But if Sky wants to allow it then, since it is a Roku, there is already a Plex channel for it.

It’s this one:

Has that box just been shot with some kind of high velocity projectile? That splash looks a lot like high velocity projectile impact splatter.

It looks like the people over there are about to have their choices increase dramatically.

Would be awesome to have plex play through Sky, I would have all my content in one place.

It’s this http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-q/

skyq will have youtube so its tech capable.

However, NowTV is also due a revamp so I wonder if there is scope there http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/now-tv/59649-now-tv-launch-most-advanced-box-yet.html (looks like a roku 4 but also include an RF inout for freeview so different to a roku 4).
