I have a home server that has an AMD 3400G cpu. I have nothing but 4k content. When trying to transcode to 720p for mobile streaming (i’m in hotels a lot), it’s simply too much for the cpu. The 3400G have vega 11 graphics and I’m wondering if there’s a way to have it hardware encode using the Vega 11 and do it with x265. From what I’m reading it requires VCE 3.0 or 4.0 which I’m not sure which my CPU has.
I’ve also networked my storage pool so my desktop (5800x with 6800xt) is currently crunching the library to optimize it to 720p for streaming outside the network. My only issue is that I’d rather not have to do it this way to optimize the library. If transcoding on the fly is too much for the 3400g then I’d like to at least get it to x264 instead of x264. Are there any plugins that will let me do this? Is there any program that will let me batch convert my large server of content to x265 using the AMD VCE hardware encoding. Right now if I left it to my server it would take about three months to encode everything the way I’d like. If I leave my desktop crunching it I’ll have it done by the end of the week but it’s all x264 and a hassle. I’d like to see if the x265 hardware encoding can be a better sollution.
