I’m running Plex Media Server on a 2011 MacMini running Windows 10 and an HDHomeRun Prime3. Media Server portion seems to be running well and just activated Plex Pass last night.
I’m trying to run a proof of concept for my wife so we can hopefully move away from XFinity X1. My clients are 2 Amazon Fire TV Sticks, a WIndows 10 PC and a Sony Bravia TV with the Plex App from the Opera TV store. My main POC setup is a FireTV stick with Ethernet adapter, Plex Server and HDHomeRun Prime all on the same router so connectivity between the three shouldn’t be an issue. Trying to watch LiveTV is troublesome. I know the FireTV stick isn’t the fastest streaming device out there but like I said, it’s POC before I get the Ok from the wife to get better streamers.
LiveTV guide takes a while to load. My biggest question is…Is there a way to get the channel guide to go directly to a channel instead of paging through a couple hundred channels with the up/down buttons? This is a potential deal breaker with the wife. For example, say she’s watching channel 711 and wants to change to 810. Is the only way to do it to back out to the grid and scroll? I thought maybe the numeric keypad on the Sony TV app would help but that version of the Plex app apparently doesn’t support LiveTV/DVR since I don’t see that option in the app.
Any advice is greatly appreciated…
