New uppdaterad plexmediia

Hello

I installed the newest plex update on my asustor nas from plex website
after the installation I normally click on the plex icon to start the web gui but it doesn’t work
and when I go to plex.tv and log in and launch it plex can’t find any media server
Localhost:32400 - doesn’t work

How exactly are you trying to connect to your server?
If the server is running on a NAS, “localhost” won’t work as that refers to your local computer.
Try https://app.plex.tv/desktop or https://[IP address of the Asustor NAS]:32400/web instead.

Hello

yes sorry i mean that way [IP address of the Asustor NAS]:32400/web has always worked before in that way for me, when I’m inside the nas interface and press plex media server icon a blank webpage is opening

Apologies for being a little thick
Are you now able to access Plex through your browser using the Asustor’s IP address (as shown above)?

Sorry my English Is bad, No I can’t access it
that’s my problem that I can’t access it, it seems to off since I can’t find it via launch in plex.tv after I logged in

Understood.
But can you access it through the IP address of the Asustor (https://[IP address]:32400/web)?
I’m trying to understand if the server itself has an issue or if it might be a problem accessing it from the Plex Web hosted by Plex themselves.

If you cannot access it through plex.tv but through the local IP address, it might be a network issue. If you cannot access it either way, we’ll need to check if the server itself is running properly. In the 2nd case you might want to look for the log files of the Plex Media Server on your Asustor NAS.

As for the logs… in case you cannot access the server itself, you can find the logs locally in the Plex data folder on your NAS. For Asustor that folder should be:

/volume1/Plex/Library/Logs/

Hello

I can’t access it by Asustor (https://[IP address]:32400/web
when I log in to plex.tv it can’t find any server at all

i have many logs in library I copied the latest one from today

It looks like the server is running without being linked to your account (no references to the active user id). Also… the server seems to run fine, requesting e.g. various updates / extras for its content – but failing to broadcast itself.

Can you try rebooting the Plex Media Server – maybe better the entire NAS?

@tom80H have uninstalled and reinstalled and rebooted and i have bought a new asustor aswell With same setup with same identical problem

Tried to download plex from plex.tv and from asustor own appstore.

@tom80H check log for todays date in the log

I am having the same issue with version: PlexMediaServer-1.18.1.2019-c186313fe-x86_64 and for today’s version: PlexMediaServer-1.18.2.2041-3d469cb32-x86_64.

To fix this the last time with the 2019 version, I had to remove PMS from the NAS and revert back to version: PlexMediaServer-1.18.1.1973-0f4abfbcc-x86_64 which means I lost all libraries, sharing, collections, backgrounds, album artwork, etc. Basically 3 years of media grooming lost.

On Google Chrome I get nothing but a constantly spinning circle and Loading on the tab. After over 5 minutes I finally get an error that says “ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT”.

On Edge I get an error message that the server is unreachable on all parts of the home screen, and a yellow exclamation point on all pinned libraries…

I went into the logs and renamed the Plex Media Server.log to *.6.log after shutting the server down in App Central. Then I restarted it, hoping to get a new log file. After waiting for the spinning circle to go away on a new tab going to https://NAS.IP.GOES.HERE:32400 no new log file was created.

The last 2 versions are definite NO GO versions for whatever reason. Since I can’t produce log files and have to completely remove and reinstall from App Central, I can’t make either version work.

I’m running PMS on an Asustor AS-7004 NAS. Just an FYI.

As an added aside to above: I followed Father Mande’s directions for trying to fake out the version information to revert to an older version. Instructions for this can be found here: https://forum.asustor.com/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=10652&p=34317&hilit=install+older+version#p34321

It did NOT allow me to revert to an older version with either method he provides. This is basically unacceptable that there isn’t a method to easily revert back when the updates don’t function. In fact it caused the NAS to lock up and I was forced to do a hard reboot of the device.

Has the issue with getting Plex to install updates been resolved yet? I’m not breaking my system again to test this, so if we can get any official word on it, that would be great. It took almost 2 weeks to recover about 90% of the collections and other things I had set up for my media. Not wanting to go through all of that on some off chance the newest version might work

Otherwise I’m still running 1.18.1.1973 which puts me way behind the curve on any new features or bug fixes. Something official might be nice…
