Plex Media Server installed on my ASUSTOR NAS unable to connect

Server Version#: ASUSTOR 4.0.5.RRS1
Player Version#: 1.25.9.5721-965587f64

Ive been able to use plex for a few weeks after the latest ASUSTOR NAS update in late March. Now for the past week I’m unable to connect to the plex media server after clicking the app in my NAS. It opened up the web page with the correct address and the page just says “unable to connect”. I utilize windows firefox and tried in MS edge (same result). I turned off my VPN and even quit the application (Hotspot Shield). I tried in a standard browser and private mode. I tried uninstalled and reinstalling the plex media server app in my ASUSTER NAS. I turned off and on my server and reinstalled. I tried plugging in the ethernet cable into a different LAN (1 and 2). I’ve logged into plex.tv and removed my server and tried seeing if it would show up again, it does not. I’ve changed my HTTP and HTTPS ports and nothing else. I can access all my drives not problem from windows explorer. I’m out of ideas, anything else I need to check? I looked through the connect to media server instructions on these websites and I’m not missing anything.

Has anyone had any issued with asustor / plex? seriously I can’t be the only one.

I’ve reset my NAS device to default network settings. I uninstalled and reinstalled the plex media server app and still the same unable to connect. I’ve had tickets open with ASUSTOR to solve this and they are stumped as well. I tried in other browsers.

I’m all out of solutions here unable to use all the media on my plex device.

I got to a solution after a month of trying everything and a lot of support from reddit. What worked was moving all my media files on my server to a new folder. I left all the folders that plex created and deleted those. Then plex had to start up from scratch and it worked.

This had to be something that the ransomware did to my files after decryption that prevented plex from opening.

I had a similar problem after updating Plex on my Asustor.

I got around it by rebooting the NAS.

Hope that helps someone.
