New version broke playback of HEVC videos

currently using 1.20.2.3402 on my synology NAS but version 1.18 worked perfectly to play the same videos. I tried to go back but when I uninstalled and reinstalled I could no longer add new movies so now im stuck with 1/3 items in my library not working.

I use the DS718+ with 16gig memory and the latest build of DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2

I recently downloaded the PLEX PC APP which plays hevc videos for me on my local network but I still cant play them through the web browser anymore which is my preferred method.

@kurtuk

One more thing please ?

Settings - Server - General - SHOW ADVANCED button.

  1. DEBUG logging – ON (turn this back on)
  2. VERBOSE logging – OFF
  3. SAVE button (at the bottom)

Now please recreate playback and capture again.

PS: You can leave DEBUG on . There is no harm nor extra disk space used. It’s on by default.

I have done that. Here is the new log Plex Media Server Logs_2020-10-13_20-36-37.zip (1.7 MB)

I haven’t stopped any scans. I can tell it to rescan the library for changes if necessary though. Also the file in question is not in the movies directory.

The files play just fine in the last version of plex and they’re very good quality encodes. The file never quits or gives an error. I left it for 2 hours while I played a game and it never said anything once the file tried to play.

The issue is the current version of plex which I am using will not play hevc files. I cannot revert back to the old version because it now has an error that wont let me add new movies to the database. It’s not a matter of my files as they ran just fine on the 1.18 version so some change in the current version is not playing them properly.
