New video player shows black screen with correct audio

Issue

New Plex video player shows Black screen but display subtitle, menu, and play audio correctly.
So basically the video won’t show but everything else shows.
I tested with many containers such as mkv, mov, Avi, mp4, ts, many enconding x264 level 30,41,50,51, x265 8 bit,10 bit, with many modes, direct play, transcode, they all produce the same issue on my Android TV 5.1.

Disabling new player and using old player “fix” the issue, everything parts fine. But I want to use the better new player.

I have this same issue. I just started using the app today. How do I disable the new player and use the old player?

I can confirm this as well on my android tv. Having to resort to the old player in order to get video output. I’ve tested multiple file formats with the same result. Also tested tweeking pretty much every other possible setting (that’s how I found out the old player still worked) to no avail.

Confirmation from me also. Black screen with new player on android TV Philips. Waiting for solution. Thanks.

All my Android tv box that is on Android 5.1 or 6 has this issue. Some are certified by Google sold in Japan, some are Chinese brand.

All my Android TV that has Android version 7or above doesn’t have this issue.

Similar issue here. Plex working on the Xbox One X app but on Android TV my JBL Link Bar videos stopped playing altogether - as in they don’t even load. In fact, I get the error “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.”

I went into the settings, disabling/enabling things one at a time and re-testing. Turns out, disabling the new player did the trick. Once disabled, videos started playing again just fine.

same issue here with all my andorid tv boxes. Hope to fix the problem ASAP. The UI of new player looks great.

new update: it turns out the new player is available on my tv box which uses android 6, while unavailable on two devices which use android 5.
