New Videoplayer and poor Subtitle Support

Apple (iOS and tvOS) supports commands to format subtitles.

For example:

  • <b> bold
  • <i> italic
  • <u> underlined
  • <font color=“#aabbcc”>
  • X1:0 - subtitle is aligned to the top of the video
  • !!! - forced subtitle

If i used

00:00:10,000 → 00:00:15,000 X1:0
Yellow Forced Text
More text and Italic text at top.

The new Player gives bad Results (also too big).
Please compare old and new Player.

Have you tested that in Plex Media Player (desktop app)? It uses mpv also, so I’d like to know if it’s a limitation of mpv or something we’re doing wrong in the iOS/AppleTV apps :sweat_smile:

Also, if you have a sample file you can share with me, that’d be awesome.

Another issue I have noticed that the new player does not respect the ios system level default settings for captions.
