New Vizio Smart TV. I created an account for Plex, got the code from the TV & entered into the website, but the app on the TV says the Media Server is missing. Says I’m supposed to install it but how do I install it on the TV? Like I said, I just set this up today, including a 30+ minute update download, as well as rebooting to get the Home page to come up. I can’t imagine there is any way to do what it’s asking me to do!
You install Plex Media Server on a computer or NAS device where your media is stored. You don’t install it on the TV. The TV app just gives you access to the server. If you are trying to access the free Plex provided content, that’s not available from that Plex app. It’s an old app that doesn’t support these new features. There is a newer beta app available, but I believe you have to opt in. See Try out our new Vizio SmartCast preview for more details.
