New Vizio SmartTV doesn't find my Plex Server

I set it up, and enter the pin at plex.tv, but when I try to open the app, I just get a message saying "You don't have any servers set up yet".  I have Plex Pass, and my server is logged in.

Plex.tv shows my server as online.

From my server, it says I am connected, and tells me the port I am mapped to.

From my server, if I go to settings/devices, I see an entry for Plex TV (Opera), and then below that, it says Vizio.

Any thoughts?

Im having the same problem.

I found the Plex app on my Vizio TV but cannot figure out how to enter the pin at plex.tv.

Sorry, I am new to all of this. The screen pops up with the pin but I do not know how to get to a browser on the Vizio to go to plex.tv/login.

I solved the issue by updating my Plex Server.  I was accessing it through the web interface of plex.tv, but apparently that "Check for updates" button does not include checking the server version.  I downloaded the correct version from the website, installed it, and it worked perfectly.

I am not positive, but it may be due to the fact that I had only recently purchased plex pass, and it is possible I had not updated since then.

You can do this from any browser, not from your Vizio.  Go to plex.tv, login, and enter the PIN.  It will then know to match your TV with your account/server.

If you are using a mix of WiFi and Ethernet for your network, make sure your router isn't set to isolate them from each other.  My netgear, for instance, has a setting called "isolation mode" and essentially blocks wired devices from seeing wireless ones.

Is a plex pass required?

I have a fresh install of the server I downloaded yesterday but after what looks like sucessful activation, the Vizio TV says that "You don't have any servers set up yet"

Plex devices does show my tv as "Plex TV (Opera)"

Your help is appreciated.

+1 for Same problem.

Also, this appears to behave sporadically, as it seems to work some days and not others.  Also of note, my Xbox One app successfully finds the server and runs correctly even when the Vizo version is not.

I've tried multiple resets of devices, Logging out of the app and restarting (w/ new PIN).

Thanks in advance.

 It WORKS!

Ifound this new post in the support section https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/203810296-Why-can-t-it-find-my-local-server-

The point I was missing was signing onto the server and getting a Plex Pass

I was able to connect my TV, but it says "remote" for the server.  I was thinking this should say "local" since it is on the same network as my TV.  Is this normal?  I assume the PIN number does something to shoot the IP address to the server but shouldn't it be local and not through the cloud?

I am having the same issue with it going to the internet not finding the server locally.  Is this something on the app?  Spoke with a friend with same tv and same issue

Same issue. it worked fine yesterday, now it wont find my local server.

Same issue here as well. Went through the normal troubleshooting steps and did not work.

I have had some issues with Plex on my Visio. It connects to the server on my LAN, but after powering off the TV and restarting it later, It loses the Plex activation and I have to reactivate it with a new PIN.

I am actually tickled that it works at all and I understand it is still a work in progress. I look forward to seeing the bugs worked out of it.

I have the same problem. I set up the TV on Tuesday and it worked, and continued to work through yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon, no server found. I signed out and reactivated it with no luck, and then even removed the app and did a factory reset of the TV which didn’t help, either. I found a screen that shows the app as version 1.0.1. I guess the TV just updates on its own?
