New Xbox One Experience program - new dashboard

Strangely the play and pause buttons on my Harmony have stopped working in Plex since the update… May be able to fix it, just haven’t gotten round to trying yet, but wonder if they have changed the IR code in some way?

I noticed that on the YouTube app so they’ve definitely changed something

This is listed in the known issues on the Xbox forums and in the Preview Dashboard app. It is the case for all the video players.

I am on NXOE and Plex is so choppy. Turning off Direct Play helped… for a bit but then even that becomes choppy. Also, I noticed that if I use the 3.5mm jack in my controller to listen to the sound it cuts out after a few seconds in Plex. I can unplug and re-plug the headphones and it fixes the sound for a few more seconds but it disappears again. This did not happen in stable Xbox One firmware, it is new in NXOE. Games don’t seem to suffer from this problem, just video. I will keep testing and report if there are any changes.

I am on the New Experience too, but im getting “Unexpected Error” when launching PLEX

After a reboot, Plex launches fine and videos are playing fine

I’m getting the Unexpected error as well. Just rebooted. Same thing =/

I’m not experiencing this error yet. Do we think it might be relevant to the version of the NXOE we have? For instance, I’m assuming some are getting newer updates sooner than others. The version on my dashboard is: 10553.1020.amd64fre.th2_xbox_rel_1510.1510.151003-2016. Can anyone confirm a different version and correlate it with this error?

Installed PLEX on Xbox One…blank screen with the word Library displayed…any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?

I just wanted to add that the new dashboard as such isn’t very… stable, yet. Something is def wonky with the refresh rate regardless of app. This being especially true when watching TV on the HDMI In. Any sports broadcast is more or less unwatchable due to the stuttering. I’ve also had the XB1 do a total power off (automatically) several times when playing games for a few hours and pushing the system a bit.

I’ve got my BT Vision box connected through HDMI in and have not seen any stuttering at all while watching sports. Have you tried the full power off including pulling the power cable? It’s definitely not stable yet, but that’s why it’s a preview dashboard…

In the preview dashboard app HDMI in, Live TV, and set-top boxes have a laundry list of known issues. You’ve probably already done this. However, you might want to review the known issues and workarounds listed in there. Unfortunately, I don’t have satellite or cable to test myself.

The stuttering is similar to the issues UK had with the original XB1 before the refresh rate fix was released. I’ve tried most of them but haven’t been able to fix it but as stated, it’s still early days. Hopefully it’ll get sorted out before launch.

edit: For those who has access - http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_early_access/update_preview/update_preview_forums/nxoe_1509/f/5552/t/2041908.aspx?pi7406=1

I was getting the stuttering as well so I decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling the Plex app. Now the app no longer works at all. It appears to just sit there and continuously look for my server with no luck at all. It just sits with the circle spinning on the screen with the Plex logo. So bummed out because I use Plex for everything.

I received the new Xbox experience last night as well. I’m noticing my videos are choppy during playback…
I was thinking of turning the Direct Play back off and seeing if it has something to do with the native MKV support on the XBOX One and the update.

*UPDATE: I just tested the same video with Direct Play disabled on the Xbox One. When transcoding the MKV file playback is fine without stuttering.
bbuckles76 could you try the same and report back the results?

Have to try that myself later, going back to using the FireTV is such a step down in experience from using my One as my daily driver. Just had not had enough time to fiddle with working out any work arounds.

New update just rolled out on nxe im about to update and will tell if plex works good after

Wow it now works better then windows 8 did im shocked in the dramatic sudden improvement im back to using plex on xbox one again!

this mornings update hasn’t fixed the issues with direct play for me

Yeah, Live TV is fixed, but Plex Direct Play is still broken.

I take it back, live TV passthrough is still dreadful too!

Not sure what they think they have fixed tbh.

I now have the problem that when I start the video it is stuttering, but when I jump around (hit left or right on the D-pad) it continues to play fine using “Direct Play”.

So there is just something wrong when I initially start the video which apparently does not correct itself because if I do not jump around it stutters forever.

Not sure how many of you are tracking this but wanted to share my findings. When using direct play on the NXOE dashboard, I only experience the stuttering when using AAC or AC3 audio tracks. Vidoes using DTS and MP3 Audio tracks start without any stuttering for me.

In all cases where i experience stuttering I just wait 10 seconds hit back on the D-pad or rewind and the stuttering is gone.
