I apologize if these questions have been asked in the community as well as the FAQs and other published documents bu still have some questions. We have been using Plex as a basic media server for our own movies and YouTube TV for our local channels and other channels. With the recent price increase from Google we are cutting that cord.
As I understand it, I can use our Plex Server to share the local TV channels to the SmartTVs/Plex Users in our house. To do this, I need to 1) subscribe to Plex Premium and 2) have some type of antenna/tuner that will capture the local TV stations. To do this, I would plug something like the WinTV-dualHD into the Windows PC that is the Plex server and then connect an OTA antenna to the WinTV-dualHD. And all configurations would be done on the PC the Plex server is installed on. Is that correct?
As an alternative, can I use a Roku or FireStick and plug that into the Plex Server and use that as my antenna/tuner to share the local TV stations?
I’m assuming if someone wants to watch the OTA channels, they will load the Plex software on the SmartTV or personal device and choose the Live TV option. From there the EPG will appear and they select what they want to watch. Is that correct?
Are there any limitations on the number of people watching local TV live? Can only 1 channel be viewed at a time, or can multiple people be watching different channels?
Thanks for your assistance and clarification.
