Newbie Get Plex Media Server Loop Endless

I just signed up for Plex Pass. I installed the Media Server on a Mac (2015 MacBook Air running High Sierra 10.13.6), I launch the app which launches Firefox (my default browser). I click “Add Media” and the app takes me to “Get Plex Media Server” which I already have. I cannot add Libraries but simply get this prompt over and over. I uninstalled, cleared the Browser cached, ran Onyx, reinstalled the Media Server with the same results. Any suggestions about how I can get the Media Server to launch so that I can set up Libraries?

In order to complete the setup you need to open your Plex Media Server through its local IP.
If you’re on the same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser. If you’re on a different machine inside your home network, use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead. This will bring up a wizard/dialog where you can name your server and link it to your Plex account (as well as creating your first libraries).

Once you “claimed” your server (=linked it to your Plex Media Account), you’ll also be able to access it from other Plex apps or via http://app.plex.tv/desktop.

Thank for your prompt reply. This does not work. I am on a machine in my Home network. I have tried both ways. When I typed the PMS IP, I received a prompt to claim the server. I claimed it. I then clicked on add Media and received the message “Not Authorized” to use this server. The 127.0.1 avenue inevitably leads to the Get Plex cul-du-sac.
Thanks again for your help and I would welcome any further suggestions

Are you on the same subnet as the machine hosting your PMS? Some routers segment their network for wired/wireless or guest/regular connections – the same can happen if you have an active network component creating its own subnet (e.g. a WLAN access point with its own DHCP). [Edit: I had missed that you actually access the PMS from that very same machine → http://127.0.0.1:32400/web]

Did you have a Plex Media Server installed on that device before?
