Newbie question

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395
Player Version#: latest version on Sony Bravia TV

Hi,
Yesterday I installed the Plex Server on my QNAP TS-251 and the player on my Sony Bravia 4k TV.
It all went well and it functions. So far no problems.

The problem is as follows:
Have a lot of films, series, photos on the NAS, but some I don’t see them on the TV.
for instance I deleted on the NAS film A, but it is still in the list on TV, but I added film B on the NAS and it isn’t in the list on TV.
Am I doing something or?
Please help me

Greetings,
Hans

Did you rescan the library?

Yes I rescanned the library and still the problem is the same.
Then I threw away the library and add it again. The problem is exactly the same. I have 58 items in the directory and I see only 36.

Which share(s) did you point PMS to?

What is the path?

Hi ChuckPA,
(PMS = Plex Media Server?)

the path I use is: /share/Multimedia/series

greetings, Hans

Hans,

yes, PMS = Plex Media Server.

Now I understand why you are having difficulty. “MultiMedia” is not really a true “Share”. It is a layer of software. It does not function well with PMS. It is designed to work with QNAP applications only.

We can easily arrange storage & usage such that both can coexist on your QNAP

Do you already have your movies and television series in shares named (for example) “movies” and “tv” ? If you do, this will be easy. If not, you might need do as I do. I have “movies1”, "movies2’, “tv”, “tv2”, and “tv3”.

Plex allows you to add as many shares as you want to a library.

I have “/share/movies” and “/share/movies2” for my “Movies” library paths.
Equally, I have “/share/tv”, “/share/tv2”, and “/share/tv3” for the “Television” library paths.

Doing it this way, PMS and QNAP utilities can coexist peacefully.

How does this sound to you?

Hi,

First I want to say thanks for helping me.
Your explanation sounds good to me and I understand. But still I can’t fix it. If it is oke to you I will later send you some screenshots about my configuration on the NAS and Plex.

greetings,
Hans

Perhaps this will help?

/share/movies and /share/movies2

Added to plex (Edit the Movies library section - Add Folders)

You can use any name you wish.
The important thing you must do is to not refer to /share/Multimedia . Multimedia share is the problem.

Hi,

That sure helps.

I fixed it and it is all working fine!

Many thanks for helping me

Greetings,

Hans
