PLex showing share that no longer exists and doesn't show its replacement - SORTED (SORT of)

After posting the below problem I ended up removing Plex from my NAS completely and re-installed from the start. While the choice of shares shown when adding libraries still showed the previously deleted NAS share, and still did not show the new replacement share, when I selected the deleted share this time the data files popped up, instead of getting the Library empty message.

So, no idea what’s going on since on both the NAS and via Mac Finder, I can only see the new share, which contains the files, not the old one but at least I can access the films now.

It is annoying, however, so if anyone does have an idea what is happening and how to set it right, then please post reply.

Server Version#:1.19.1.2737

Hello,

New to Plex today. Have searched the forum for this particular issue but although found some close, haven’t seen this so far and any fixes I have tried for similar problems haven’t worked, so all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Been streaming music from Qnap NAS for a while now and decided to also load various home movies and films etc, so thought I’d try Plex as media server on the Qnap.

All media related shares on Qnap have been set up with permission for group “everyone” to have full read/ write access.

i copied some old home movies and a bunch of kids movie DVDs to separate Plex libraries successfully. These files were all created some time ago and are in '.MOV" format. They stream through Plex OK.

I also had some kids TV programme DVDs and at first set them up in a TV library “TV Shows” but having done so, Plex stated that the Library was empty - presumably because they were in old movie format, not TV.

I deleted the library. I also deleted the Qnap share as it had the same name and put the data into a new share called “Kids Cartoons”. Tried to set up a new movies library in Plex with name of Kids Cartoons but Plex path for NAS when trying to create libraries still shows a (now non-existent) share called TV Shows and it doesn’t show the new share Kids Cartoons. In addition, if I choose the non-existent share it display the films that were originally wrongly allocated to it, although these all all greyed out and cannot be accessed.

I have tried various combinations of libraries and types of libraries but cannot get Plex to see the new share, nor can I seem to be able to get to the now greyed out files.

I have double checked all permissions various times (and the other Plex libraries set up in exactly the same way all work fine). I have rebooted NAS, restarted Plex but nothing tried has worked so far. It must be something to do with fact that the library was set up and then deleted but I can’t figure out exactly what’s going on and now at a loss how to fix it to get Plex to see the new share. Although I’d also like to get rid of the ‘ghost’ share showing in Plex I can live with that if I can get it to see the movies in their new Qnap share.

Any suggestions to fix this problem would be gratefully received!
