Newest version of Plex Media Player broke something on 23.976fps playback

I reproduced it on Windows 7, although the measured framerate hovered near 48 and not 36. Using Sync Mode audio did not exhibit the issue. Also using Native OpenGL did not exhibit the issue with any method of Sync Mode. I will discuss with @LongChair.

Great, the same issue as I reported then.

Do you also get the server undefined error message in the ‘new star’ channel tab?

Yes

Yes

Boom! Sounds promising, hopefully it will get looked at and fixed.

Meanwhile, can the version of PMP directly before the current version be made available for download please? At least then I can use the most recent version that works, rather than a really old one that I found by chance in my downloads folder.

Thanks for the download link. Bump for the issue.

@lisagood : thanks for the investigation we will have a look into it and let you know.

@LongChair Thank you! I just checked the newer version, the issue is not fixed.

Hello, any progress?

The newest version v2.12.0 does not fix the issue, is this being looked into please?

Version 2.12.1.871 does not fix the issue. Are there any plex employees looking into this please?

Hello. Any updates?

Bump! Hello out there :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello is anyone from Plex reading this?

Hello Plex. Any updates?

Can a Plex employee please respond?

Hello @RuleZero

Sorry for the lack of reply.
We sorrowfully didn’t have time to investigate that yet.

Did you try using OpenGL ?

We update that post as soon as we have been able to look into it.

Thanks for your patience

Hi @LongChair okay, thanks for the response, at least I know now that it hasn’t been forgotten. Is there a rough timeframe for looking into it. Eg a week, a month, 6 months, a year?

I have tried OpenGL but refresh rate switching doesn’t work at all with that, it never has, so is not an option.

I also ran into this when updating PMP on my main NUC7i3BNH. Reverting to provided older version (2.10.0.849) fixed the problem. I have HW Acceleration enabled, Sync to Audio, Refresh rate switching enabled.

Normally the GPU/CPU loads are very small (<50%) but with the latest version both are repeatedly maxed out. This seems to cause the very choppy output at least in my case.

I apologize for having no answers, but instead I have questions.

  1. What is the last known good version of Plex Media Player before this problem appears?
  2. Is this only a problem with PMP for Windows? Has anyone seen this problem with PMP embedded? I’m considering running embedded on my NUC instead.

Thank you!

Hi. I have just updated to version 2.14.1.880-301a4b6c and the issue is the same.

Under Settings - Video - Sync Mode - only one of the three options works (Audio).

Selecting either of the two display sync options results in unwatchable jerky playback.
