Same issue here, not sure if it’s a hardware issue or PMP issue. I have higher end hardware for my Plex server and my HTPC. Getting tired of dropping frames during everything I watch.
If the issue is not present in PMP v2.10 then you know it is PMP that is broken and not your hardware.
I installed the 2.10 version and it still does it.
I just tried the new PMP version 2.15…0 and the issue is stil the same. I can only use Audio sync, which results in audio and video sync drifting apart during a film at 23.976. If I use the video sync options, I get unwatchable jerky playback.
Surely I can’t be the only one that is experiencing this?
Please can you fix it, Plex??
Dear Plex employees, it has been 2 months now, can you please just let me know that this issue has not been forgotten, and confirm that you are looking / will look into it in the near future please?
I second the motion. I use PMP Embedded, so it’s doubly frustrating to me. I had to downgrade to 2.9.0.847-b1acec41 to restore normal 23,976 playback, it’s now been more than two months since the broken 2.10.0.873-21333ad5 version had been released and the other platforms are already at 2.15! I seem to remember it’s been said that the Embedded version will soon be on par with the rest of them. Not only has that not happened yet, but the silence from the Plex team is maddening.
I have been having jerky playback since upgrading my server software. Please advise what can be done, or is this a software issue that must be fixed on your end?
I see a new version of PMP was released yesterday. There is no mention of this issue in the release notes. Is it worth me checking it to see if it contains a fix?
I tried it. It is still broken. Video is only watchable if I use Sync Mode: Audio. Both of the Sync Mode: Video options are broken.
Same issue still present with today’s new release of PMP.
bump for this issue
Hello. It is 3 months ago that I first reported this issue.
I have done some more testing this morning, on all of the machines in the house (4 windows HTPC’s) and can confirm that the issue is present in the following settings:
PMP version later than 2.10
Refresh rate switching enabled
Using Angle not OpenGL
On 23.976 fps videos,
Using sync mode: display is broken.
This means that we can not benefit from the display synchronisation techniques that mpv player brings to the user experience, explained here:
Can a plex employee please respond and let me know if this is actively being looked at, or will it be looked at, or is this product no longer being maintained, and should I look for a new media player solution?
Thank you.
Another bump for this issue
And another. Keeping the faith.
I don’t understand, is no one taking this seriously? This has been going on for months with no resolve.
Poor Rambles has bumped this thread multiple times with no response and he is certainly not the only one with the same issue.
Really frustrating to say the least.
Another win 10 user with audio sync issue. The lack of response in several months is a little worrying.
I have upgraded to the latest version and I like the new layout and customisation options, but I can’t use it as it cannot playback my 23.976 fps videos other than in an unwatcheable jerky manner.
Maybe this screenshot will help.
I see still no fix in the new version of PMP. How is a fix for this issue comig along Plex?
Another bump. I am really sad that I cannot enjoy the new customisation options in PMP
Interesting to see all this. I can also confirm this issue with my AMD GPU based system, but it is not an issue for me. I’m using audio passthrough. (works great. only dropped frames - sometimes)
It would be interesting to see if updating mpv to the latest version v0.29.1 (as of 11.10.2018) including ffmpeg 4, would fix the issue.
