News on LGos?

I’ve been waiting for news to come to the LG webos and this update seems to indicate it could already be available there:

I’m running:
Plex for LG: 3.90.1
webOS: 3.8.0

I can see only the following home screen media types:
-Shows
-Movies
-Videos
-Music
-Photos
-Live TV (set to ‘show and include’ but doesn’t show in the option tabs at the top of the pages)
-Web Shows
-Podcasts

Can anyone tell me if there’s some hidden setting I’m missing?

Have you disabled news for your account or managed users?

(Specifically “How do I control whether News shows up in general?”)

Which model TV are you using?
News is showing for me on webOS 2 and 4 devices.

Thanks for the reply Marcus. I rechecked, and my online media sources/news setting was and is set to enabled.

I see news on all other devices (phones, browser on my PC etc…) but the problem device is an LG UJ6540 running LG SW ver: 05.80.10.

App info:
Plex for LG 3.90.1
webOS 3.8.0

The only other thing I can think of is it’s disabled in Settings: Home Screen Media Types within the LG app.

News isn’t an option in [Settings: Home Screen Media Types] within my LG app.

I removed and reinstalled the app but it remains the same..

Apologies for the delayed response, I’ve attempted to reproduce this a few times, but haven’t been able to. If this isn’t an issue still, ignore the rest, otherwise some more steps could help.

Would you be able to try a different account? (Setup a new account without a Plex Pass, then sign into that account on the TV).

If that’s successful I think the issue is with the info stored info, if signing back into your account has the same problem I think the solution is going to be a factory reset of the TV.

I didn’t ever get around to trying your suggestion but news seemingly appeared on the LG app for all of my users on Tuesday (11-Jun) after I logged into the Android Plex app as a non-admin user and entered news preferences (when the app proactively prompted me to)… An odd fix but hey, it works now.

Thanks for your help along the way!

Thanks for confirming it’s working.

The underlying fix was due to a feature flag that wasn’t correctly enabling it for all users. We fixed the issue back on June 3rd.
