I just upgraded from a Roku Ultra to a Shield.
One nifty feature Roku OS has which I’m yet to see on other Plex clients is audio “night mode”.
Turning this mode on tells the Plex server to downmix any surround tracks to AAC stereo. I think it also reduces dynamic range compression (DRC) and normalizes volume too.
This feature is a godsend when the kids are sleeping as loud sounds (eg., explosions, shooting) are lowered while dialog is increased so everything is heard evenly without constantly having to reach for the remote to change volume scene to scene.
I was hoping Plex could add a simple client GUI option to quickly toggle this on and off like the Roku has.
