Don’t know what your set up is (NAS is a computer and your computer is also a computer maybe you meant a DAS plugged into your computer? or how you installed plex but here is a generic possible response prefaced with super simplified explanation of networking:
Your “modem” translates electricity into internet and this is sent to a router. Most internet providers give you a combo modem/router if not then the has an ethernet out cable that plugs into a router.
A router has a giant book with 200 empty pages.
The cover says: 123 Pie Street Directory.
- Page 1 is the router/modem’s address (123 Pie Street, Unit 1).
- When you connect your phone to your WiFi the router opens their book and says: “welcome to 123 Pie Street you are assigned unit 146.
- Then you connect your NAS it is assigned Unit 126.
- Your computer Unit 152.
- The first “android box” Unit 36, and your second “android box” Unit 80.
If Plex media server is locked inside whatever machine it’s installed the only way out or visit plex from the outside is a special code (default is 32400).
If the “android boxes” and the machine running the plex server are connected to the SAME ROUTER the plex app will tell the android boxes:
if you want plex go tell your router how to get to 123 Pie Street, Unit 126, key 32400. ( if installed on computer address is 123 Pie Street, Unit 152, key 32400)
The router will then tell your android boxes where to go.
If the android boxes are on a different ROUTER than the plex server this happens:
Plex app tells the boxes if you want plex ask your router how to get to 123 Pie Street, Unit 126, key 32400. Their router then tells them
my address book is for 123 Cake Street.

SOLUTION put all of your machines on the SAME ROUTER (aka network).
- check your equipment
If your provider gave you a modem/router combo the only cables should be
- power (power outlet to the modem/router combo)
- Coax//fiber cable from the wall to the modem/router combo.
- If your NAS and computer are plugged in to the modem/router combo then you will have 2 Ethernet cables coming from the modem/router combo one goes to the NAS and the other to the computer or just one to your computer if you meant DAS.
If this is your set up your issues should be resolved by unplugging the ethernet cable from the machine that has plex server installed, restarting the machine, when you log back in make sure plex server is NOT running, make sure the computer is NOT connected to wifi, then plug in the ethernet cable back in, start plex media server app, click the wrench in the upper right of your screen and go to network you’ll see 10.0.0.RANDOM NUMBER 2-200: 32400
Then go to plex boxes, restart them and open plex your should be all set to go ( or add the new library from a ‘new network’.
Alternatively if an ethernet cable goes from your MODEM to another machine with antennas. or multiple ethernet ports this is the issue. Your Modem/router has a network called Network 1 . The other machine with antennas is a different router with Network 2 and wifi 2. Machines plugged into the modem will NOT see things plugged into the other router or it’s wifi.
If you have a modem AND a separate router make sure EVERYTHING is plugged into the router and the modem ONLY has power in + COAX/Fiber in + Ethernet out to the router’s Ethernet in. Nothing else.
