Hello and kind regards.
I am facing a rather unexpected behavior of my Raspberry Pi Plex media server. In order to set up a new Plex server on a M1 Mac I wanted to download all my music (no video files) from that Raspberry server to my Mac. The first attempt to download music files contained in dedicated playlists works fine but whenever trying to reload the same files one more time to my Mac nothing happens, no download is starting and any Plex app does show nothing in the activity monitor.
Please note that I moved the downloaded files out of the according directory on my Mac by hand to different locations. Whenever choosing “remove download” from within a Plex app or the Plex web connection nothing is happening and I can click “download” again - leading to this malfunction described above. Please also note that I am a Plex Pass owner.
Why do I need to re-download at all? Well… To “consolidate” all my music stored in several locations I thought about re-building all my playlists within the regular Apple Music app on the M1 Server. If finished one day (more than 3000 playlists) I would have liked to set up Plex media server on that Mac by using exactly the same file and directory structure built by Apple Music before. As there is no other way to get hold of music files stored on the Raspberry Pi but by clicking “download” I am somewhat tied to this tedious procedure - if I do not want to physically unmount the SSDs where all the music files are stored on the Raspberry Pi.
This is the one thing. The other one is that there does not seem to exist any relatively easy way to export playlists from Plex media server so I will have to “reproduce” any list by hand again in Apple Music - but for this I will have to download the music files onto my Mac.
Any idea on this?
Thanks in advance for any helpful hint!
