Trouble with Plex music Downloads on iOS app

I’ve had this problem consistently for several months, and it’s driving me bonkers.

I’ve never been a heavy user of the Downloads function for music, but I’d like to break away from iTunes for my locally-stored songs on iOS.

So when I’m home on Wi-Fi (or even on cellular), I download an album, and it usually works. However, almost every time I open the Plex app, it wants to “re-download” these albums, and often gets hung.

I get why there needs to be some sync between downloads and my Plex server, but it’s like it wants to re-download the entire album, and often times fails with “Error downloading xx items”, even though the album was properly downloaded the day before!

This happens if I use the original FLAC file, or I have Plex transcode to MP3. At this point, I don’t care about lossless or not, I just want to download music once, and not have Plex choke every time I open up the app. TIA!

Plex Pass user? Download PlexAmp from the link below and you can prevent PlexAmp from refreshing any playlists or downloaded content stored offline until you’re ready to do so.

Brilliant! Yes I’m a Plex Pass user.

I’ve used PlexAmp on my Mac, but never on iOS.

So I just did a quick test… and toggled the button in the settings, Downloads, Refresh Downloads “Off”.

THANK YOU!!
