No Audio + Video Freezes after 2-3 seconds in certain videos

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: FireTV 4K latest plex client

I have my fire stick connected via HDMI to my Onkyo receiver. I’ll start by saying i’ve tried changing the audio configuration on the fire stick itself from auto to Dolby Digital to Dolby Digital Plus, i also tried playing with plex audio settings and select all available options but that also does not help

here’s the issue :

Most older videos play just fine when i open the app, but, some newer ones (i haven’t been able to figure out exactly what differentiates them from the rest) won’t play at all - the video would play for about 2-3 seconds and then freeze and no audio at all would come out.
Once this happens any other video i try to play does that same thing (even the ones that play fine before). Even the UI sounds stop.
Only way around it is to switch to a different app to “reset” the audio system.

I should note that my Sony TV and my iPhone play these videos just fine.

I am new to troubleshooting plex so i am looking for help from the community in troubleshooting this. What should i try next ? What information do you need posted to help you help me ?

I have all Plex logs here, i can post them but not sure which are relevant.

Set the FireStick audio to either Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus (obviously, don’t use DD+ unless supported by your receiver).

Set the Plex app for Passthrough = HDMI.

What does the Plex Dashboard show when playing one of the problematic videos (example pic below)? Is either the video or audio transcoding? Click the yellow icon on the right to expand the view if needed gold .

Plex Web -> Activity -> Dashboard

Also, please attach the Plex XML information for the problematic video and one that plays OK.

See Investigate Media Information and Formats for info on gathering the data.

Only the upper portion of the info is needed, down to the </media> tag (ratings, list of actors, etc not necessary). Save the info as a .txt file and attach to your reply (just drag it into the compose window, will insert at cursor location). The forum does not support .xml attachments.

Thanks a lot for your quick response.

I feel kinda stupid now - I really have no idea what happened - i went to do what you asked and it just started playing fine

I’ll keep testing but both problematic videos that yesterday wouldn’t play no matter what, play just fine now.

In case the problem returns i know what to do now!
