My best friend is having Plex issues with his Fire TV. Menu’s load normally. He gets audio, no video (on everything he tries to stream) once he hits play. He lives states away so I can’t really go over to try and help him troubleshoot like I would like to. He has had my Plex for years and used this FireTV for months without issue until now. He said nothing has changed on his end - just randomly started having problems.
I had him hard reboot his TV (didn’t fix it)
I had him un-install and re-install Plex app (didn’t fix it)
I had him restart his router/modem (didn’t fix it)
It works on his phone fine.
It works casing from his phone fine.
Any known issues or fixes for a problem like this I can have him try? TIA

Also had him Enable the new video player (was disabled) but no luck there either
I had a similar issue. Soft rebooting the firestick did fix it for me though. Try watching something in standard definition and see if it works. Been having HD issues with the fire stick.
Also if that doesn’t work go ahead and try switching to the old video player in plex, which is under settings, advanced settings, and it’ll say disable new video player. That will fix the issue, I’m 90% sure lol.
Sorry I’m all out of thoughts. Hopefully someone will chime in. When I experienced the black TV issue the things I did above worked. But Fire TV is a little different than the firestick.
Turn off the new video player in settings. My friend said he disabled it, but he didn’t. When we got to more troubleshooting I noticed this, disabled it, and all video came back.
