Hello. I’m having an issue with a specific show. I’m not getting any episode-level metadata for “Patlabor - The TV Series”. This one – not this one.
I can get metadata for the first season when I use TMDB for episode ordering, but this is ripped from the home video release and I think there are a few episode differences. I’m using theTVDB’s DVD ordering, and I’m not even given an option for that ordering.
I have gone in and filled in the missing External IDs for matching to TheTVDB on the pages on TMDB’s side. That was done on April 28th and there has been no change in my ability to pull metadata. I’d also like to note theTVDB ordering includes the continuation: Patlabor: The New Files, which TMDB is treating as a separate show for some reason. I added the missing theTVDB and IMDB External ID numbers to this season to match them back as well.
I noticed there have been topics on this franchise previously and that seemed to have closed with no note of resolution. I actually had working metadata the last time I watched this, and I was using TVDB DVD ordering, then too.
Argh, there’s a series-level link, too? I didn’t know that, but that does make sense.
Unfortunately a mod will have to get involved because the ID for the full series is currently incorrectly associated with the earlier 7-episode OVA record on TMDB.
The ova maybe incorrectly entered so might be best to see if a mod will delete it. Anyhow, I’ll leave it with you as I’m not at all familiar with the show. Good luck.
Yeah, I’ve realized there will be a second issue when it comes to “The New Files” since that is listed as a separate show on TMDB and I can’t enter the same series external ID on both. For right now will see how it works once I can get the first season associated right.
This is now resolved. A mod on TMDB corrected the Series ID on the OVA and entered it onto the TV series.
That was some days ago, so doing a Fix Match on the series now to reloaded things I was able to choose the TVDB DVD ordering. Getting metadata for the full series and The New Files second season now.
It’s actually a redundant listing. The OVAs are listed as the first seven specials on the series’s entry, as well as having that stand-alone entry. Since they don’t interfere with each other it’s fine for people who want to list them separate.
