No Extra section in preplay page

Server Version#: 1.13.9.5456
Player Version#: WEB 3.53.7

After many test, I can’t display personnal extras on preplay page. For example :

\Movies\Capitaine Sky (2004)
Capitaine Sky (2004).mkv
The Art of World of Tomorrow-interview.mkv
2- Brave New World chapter 1-interview.mkv

\Movies is the root of library.
Without the -interview extension the 2 mkv files appear after scan, With the extension, the files disappear but the Extra section doen’t appear in the preplay page of the movie.

I also did tests with extras in a directory as Interviews or with another library, without success.

I enable “Local Media Assets” as explained in https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220677-local-media-assets-movies/.

I precise that an Extra section appears for movies for which internet extras are set by Plex movie agent. But even in this case, I can’t add personnal extras.

Thanks for your help.

Hmm… with Local Media Assets checked in the agent settings for the agents used in those libraries and the extras properly named the files should actually show up.

Just for testing purposes…
What happens if you move both files into a subfolder \Movies\Capitaine Sky (2004)\Interviews and re-scan the library? (the suffix -interview won’t be needed in that scenario)

I did this test without success, as well as with a directory named “Behind The Scenes”.

can you confirm Local Media Assets is really checked in the agent settings?

Please show a listing of all files in that subfolder.

Please do also post the content of the Plex XML info of that main movie.

I find the bug :star_struck:

The name of one of the 9 extras included an accented character :astonished:. Only one is enough to inhibit the Extra section on preplay page !

One more comment about this situation. Accented characters are permitted for movie name, but not for extra name (?!)
It is a great pity for french user… :sob: Could it be possible to fix that ?

Plex is so great, it should be perfect ! Thanks a lot for your help!

Disclaimer: I am not a Linux expert.
According to what I remember, you need to run Plex with the right codepage settings, then it won’t take offense of non-ascii characters.
A similar issue appeared some time ago on QNAP devices (which simply run a modifed Linux). One approach to deal with the issue is documented here:

But the above may be outdated or not really advisable, so I think @ChuckPa may be able to provide a definitive answer.

I am not sure that codepage settings is relevant, because there is no issue with all “normal” movie : some of them have a name with accented characters and are scanned properly.

I precise that the path and the name of extra file need to have no accented characters. Unfortunately, I have a library mapped on a directory the name of which includes accented characters ; in this library I can’t add any extra :imp: I can’t change that because it means to rebuilt the library and to lose all my personal metadata.

Both local extras and external subntitles are handled by the Local Media Assets agent.
So I think this is very similar to the linked QNAP issue.

Where is the file plex.sh in order to check the codepage settings ?

Sorry, I can’t tell you that. As I said, no Linux expert here. All those relevant settings might even be in a different configuration file nowadays, since the linux builds have been reworked since then.

I know where are the PMS program files : /volume1/Plex/Library/Plex Media Server for an Asustor NAS.

But I can’t find plex.sh file in this PMS location. Where is it ?

Hi, I suppose that on Asustor NAS, plex.sh is named start-stop.sh. It is located in ‘/volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/plexmediaserver/CONTROL’

I prefered to change the directory name without accented characters. And I modified the Plex database to change the location of the library.:

Great ! I can now add my Extra movies.
