Local Extras Not Displayed

Server Version#:1.16.5.1488
Player Version#:1.1.0.792
I’m a new user trying to get local extras to display in the Windows desktop player. I followed the instructions in the support article titled “Local Media Assets - Movies”, but I probably missed something. The folder structure for one movie is:
/Movies
/Alice in Wonderland (2010)
Alice in Wonderland (2010).mkv
Effecting Wonderland-behindthescenes.mkv
Finding Alice-behindthescenese.mkv
The Mad Hatter-behindthescenes.mkv

I selected Movies as the Agent with Plex Movies. Local Media Assets (Movies) is at the top of the list. The Library has been scanned, and the only thing that displays is the movie. Any help would be appreciated.

If this is in fact how you named some of them then this is your issue.

Should be -behindthescenes

One bad apple will spoil them all.

I put all my extras in a sub folder called “Featurettes”. That way the naming of the individual files hasn’t seemed to matter for me. They just come up as local extras for whatever movie folder it’s in.

@NewPlaza It was a typo in the post. The actual files are correctly spelled. I noticed last night. I go to Settings>Agents>Movie and select Plex Movie and setup the list, then leave Settings. When I return to Settings>Agent>Movie it is set to Personal Media. I don’t see a way to save it so it returns to Plex Movie for Movies. Maybe this is something I don’t understand about how Plex works.

@KaraokeAmerica I’ll try the “Featurettes” subfolder idea later today.

Thanks

It talks about creating different subdirectories for different types of extra, but I just put them all in “Featurettes” and it works fine for me.

I created the “Featurettes” subfolder, moved the extras to it, and deleted the -behindthescenes from the filenames. I also scanned the library files and refreshed the metadata. The movie is the only thing displayed. Do I need a Plex Pass for this feature to work? If not, I must have an incorrect or missing setting.

I am a lifetime pass holder and it works for me. I’m not sure if that is a requirement or not.

Have you tried the “Plex Dance”? Search the forum for the details.

You need to have ‘Local Media Assets’ enabled, preferably located at the bottom of the active agents in ALL the agent lists, but where ever it is it has to be enabled.

Extras are, in fact, Local Media Assets.

Note:
If you happen to have more than one copy of Alice, make sure you load and match Alice in the folder with the extras first - then you can add other versions OUTSIDE the original folder, in another folder with a name similar enough for Plex to merge, or not.

Once your sure everything is correct, you only have one version, LMA is enabled - and it still won’t cooperate - Plex Dance Alice (the entire folder and all it’s contents - Dance link in my profile - and do all the steps in the order they are described.

After that, if no joy, you got a problem.

I decided to do the Plex Dance because I’m only testing Plex, and this is the first movie I’ve added. The folder structure and files is:
FOLDER Movies
FOLDER Alice in Wonderland (2010)
FILE Alice in Wonderland (2010).mkv
FILE Effecting Wonderland-behindthescenes.mkv
FILE Finding Alice-behindthescenes.mkv
FILE The Mad Hatter-behindthescenes.mkv

LMA is checked and is at the top of the list in the Movies agent. I’ve been doing a few tests with Plex for the past couple of months. Testing has mainly been with Home Videos, and they are working fine. I plan to try with a different movie, and if that fails, do a complete uninstall then reinstall.

Thanks for everyone’s help. After the Plex Dance I’m finding the extras.
