No HDR tone mapping after paying for PLEX PASS

So I paid the monthly fee to get the HDR tone mapping, and nothing. Am I suppose to set something to something for that to work? HDR transcoding is enabled in settings. But I don’t wanna transcode, just direct play. Anyone any ideas?

Does your setup meet the requirements?

Server-side tone mapping only applies to streams that are transcoding HDR. If a file is direct playing, the server won’t do any tone mapping, just send the file as-is to the client.

Ah ok, my bad didn’t read the manual. Thanks for the answer. Goodbye.

So if you have a SD monitor on the same network and you’re streaming an HDR file what happens? I’m curious.

Some clients, such as Plex for Windows, can tone map HDR10 video. Therefore, Plex Media Server will direct play the video.

If the client cannot tone map the HDR10 video, then it will be transcoded and tone mapped by Plex Media Server (assuming the transcoding & tone mapping are enabled and the server is capable of performing the task).
